Welcome to Sardinia

Traveling in Sardinia, the Mediterranean’s second largest island, is like a journey through centuries of its past conquerers, which include Spain, Northern Africa and other parts of Italy— all of whom left their cultural mark.

Sardinia has managed to retain its own vibrant and rich traditions as well, in part, thanks to its rugged mountainous interior that is still not easily traversed. On La Dolce Vigna’s 8 Night – 7 Day Tour of Sardinia, we will delve into the island’s ancient history, varied landscapes, intricate art and music, and, of course, Sardinian food and wine.

With its unique terroirs and indigenous grape varieties from Cannonau to Vermentino di Gallura, there is a lot to explore! Whether exploring Sardinia’s wine regions, savoring its culinary delights, or immersing oneself in its rich history andculture, Sardinia offers an unforgettable experience.

Sardinia Tour Highlights

Each of our tours is designed to offer an authentic experience, where local traditions meet the pleasure of fine wine and rich heritage. From renowned wineries to charming villages, we’ll guide you through the people, places, and flavors that make every destination truly unique.

Cuisine of Sardinia

Traditional Sardinian food reflects the island’s history and culture, with influences from Italy, Spain, and North Africa.

One of the most iconic dishes is culurgiones, handmade pasta filled with potato, pecorino cheese, and mint, served with a tomato and basil sauce. Sardinia is also famous for its succulent roasted suckling pig, a delicacy often enjoyed during festive occasions. Seafood lovers will delight in dishes like bottarga (salted, cured fish roe) and, fregola ai frutti di mare (a type of pasta served with mixed seafood).

For dessert, Sardinia offers delights such as seadas, a fried pastry filled with pecorino cheese and drizzled with honey, and pardulas, sweet ricotta-filled pastries flavored with saffron and orange zest.

Your Extraordinary Accommodations in Sardinia

Our accommodations in Sardinia will take you from the island’s south to north. We stay at three fabulous boutique hotels: one in Cagliari’s city center, one in the central part of the island and finally a lovely country estate in the north.

What Clients are Saying About Us

Leslie successfully melded charming local personalities, culturally enriching experiences, and delightful regional foods and wines into a fabulous trip to beautiful and fascinating venues in Puglia and Basilicata.

— Lisa N.

WOW! What a fantastic trip. We were incredibly impressed with the planning and organization exhibited throughout the entire week. The wineries, winemakers and wine families who we were introduced to were nothing short of amazing and showcased the effort and passion that these families bring to their wines, year after year.

— Steve M.

The air is wine. The grapes on a score of rolling hills are red with autumn flame. Across Sonoma Mountain, wisps of sea fog are stealing. The afternoon sun smolders in the drowsy sky. I have everything to make me glad I am alive.

— Jack London

We just returned for the most amazing trip with La Dolce Vigna, and we can’t stop talking about it! Every day was filled with first-rate adventures. We couldn’t have been more pleased!

— Mary C.

Leslie makes magic happen! We’ve been around the world and no one can compare. She’s absolutely the best!

— Susan L.

We had an amazing adventure with La Dolce Vigna.. I’m not normally a tour group person but I’ve been converted. It was such a great balance of wine experiences and culture. We’re already looking at Leslie’s next tour listings.

If you read through the itinerary for one of La Dolce Vigna’s tours and think it sounds fantastic, in actuality, it’s even better than that! Don’t hesitate. Just go!

— Allison O.

We just spent a full week with Leslie touring wineries, vineyards, olive groves and Mt. Etna. Lunches and dinners were always amazing with wine pairings, even a Michelin star restaurant. We highly recommend this tour and experience of Sicily.

— Marilyn W.

To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything

— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

My wife and I traveled throughout Europe for a over month, and our tour with La Dolce Vigna was our favorite part!

— Paul B.

My wife and I just returned from a week-long Piedmont trip with Leslie. We are not group tour people. We prefer to explore on our own at our own pace, but if every group tour was like hers, we’d do them exclusively. Fun, informative and relaxing – you can’t find a more enthusiastic, well connected host.

— Mike B.

Leslie knows all the special little nooks and crannies that you would never find on your own.

— Alison B.

Leslie introduced us to the most talented group of artisans and experts who welcomed us into there workshops and homes, I left feeling like I have made friends in Oaxaca.

— Amber L.

The adventure that Leslie put together for a group of seasoned wine lovers was much more than simply enjoying the world’s finest wines. It was filled with stunning places to see, meals of a lifetime and a spirit of fun and friendship.

— Michael M.

Just home from a great tour in the Veneto led by Leslie Rosa. Superb selection of winemakers and restaurants that gave us a great feel for the region and its food and wine culture. Leslie picked wonderful places to stay and built an impressive itinerary. And, Leslie is a fount of interesting information on the language and culture of Italy. This was my second trip with her; I highly recommend Leslie and La Dolce Vigna!

— Mike B.

“Leslie’s curated tour of Puglia and Basilicata was like stepping into a living painting. Breathtaking! The food and wine were absolutely outstanding, making each day a feast for the senses.”

This gives clients a great cross-section of the appellations, wine styles, etc. without over-doing it. We will also try wines from different wineries and possibly have winemaker guests during meals.
I am not a wine expert; will I still enjoy the tour? You do not need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour, but a curiosity or love of tasting new wines comes in handy! About half the trip will be focused on wine.
How is the weather in Sardinia in the spring and autumn? Spring temperatures in Sardinia can range from the 60s to the low 80s during the day and dropping as low as the 50s in the evening. The key is to bring clothes you can layer. Rain is always a possibility in both the spring and autumn.

Sommelier + Owner of La Dolce Vigna

After a decade of working in the art world for eminent institutions and artists in New York and London, I moved to Italy, fell in love with the diversity of Italian wine and became a certified sommelier with the Associazione Italiana Sommelier. As an art-curator-turned-sommelier, I founded my company to offer trips that give an in-depth look at the history and culture of a particular region through the lens of local wine, spirits, and food. Over the years, my portfolio of trips has grown from Italy and California to include other places I love: Mendoza, Argentina and Oaxaca, Mexico and now Somerset, England. When not leading tours, you can find me doing pop-up wine tastings, writing for the Slow Wine Guide, or getting lost someplace beautiful with my watercolor set.
